In the role of Parahunt, actor Kalani Queypo also appeared as Angel in The End of the Spear (2005) and later as Xocozin in Aztec Rex (2007).
The cast also included actors Myrton Running Wolf and Lawrence Santiago who both appeared in the TV mini-series Into the West (2005).
Filming locations included the Chickahominy River in Virginia and at the Hatfield House in Hertfordshire, England.
Three cuts of the film (135-minute, 150 minute, 172 minute) have been released on Blu-ray and DVD in the United States by The Criterion Collection.
Myrton Running Wolf passed in 2025 at the age of 56.
